A man stole a semi truck, then led police on a high-speed pursuit on Friday. It happened around 9:30 a.m. in Poteet, Texas, when 33-year-old Jeremy Orosco took the semi truck from a construction site.

Bexar County sheriff’s deputies chased Orosco at Loop 1604 and Pleasanton Road. When the thief reached Highway 16, a TxDOT helicopter took over the pursuit.

According to KSAT, Orosco was traveling at speeds over 70 mph. He also unsuccessfully tried to ram the semi into a police cruiser. He eventually jumped from the moving vehicle and hid underneath thick brush at the side of the road.

Sgt. Anthony Davis, of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office explained,

“He was hiding pretty good, but we have the general area where he was. But the brush was so thick that it took them awhile to move stuff to find out where he was.”

The truck’s owner stated that the big rig was stolen from a construction site near Highway 181 and Loop 1604. The truck’s GPS was integral in locating the suspect.

Orosco faces charges of vehicle theft. There were no injuries and no vehicles were damaged.
