Police say a highly valuable load of bull semen was stolen from a truck in Turlock, California on Sunday Night.
According to CBS Sacremento, nearly 3,500 units of semen were stolen from the truck, worth an estimated $50,000.
The load was being shipped by farmer Anthony Reis, who says he spent months extracting the semen.
“You’re trying to make a living … the loss of all those units of semen, and probably taken by someone who had no idea what they were stealing, is very frustrating,” he told reporters.
Reis says the semen came from bulls that are genetically in the “top one percent of the world population,” and was enough to impregnate about 1,000 cattle.
A police investigation is underway.
