
Approximately 31 vehicles were involved in a pileup on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, on Friday evening.
The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. and closed the highway in both north and southbound directions between Exit 131 and Exit 139.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has advised drivers to take Route 52 and 309 as a detour.
Several injuries have been reported, with multiple people being rushed to local hospitals. The extent of the injuries are not yet known.

At 6:20 EST, PaDOT announced the reopening of the southbound lanes. The northbound lanes remain closed.
