Six peepholes were found drilled in the walls of the men’s restrooms at two busy rest stops along Interstate 40 in North Carolina.

The peepholes were discovered inside the stalls at the eastbound and westbound rest stops in Benson. Authorities say the holes were only in the men’s restrooms and that none were discovered in any of the women’s bathrooms.

Some of the peepholes were as large as a half inch. The cost to repair the damage was estimated at $5,000.

“Be aware of your surroundings. If you notice holes or anything out of place bring it to the attention of the employees or law enforcement,” said Johnston County Sheriff’s Capt. Jeff Caldwell.

Officials believe the holes were drilled into the bathroom walls between January 24th and January 28th. An investigation is currently underway and police are reviewing surveillance footage to try to identify a suspect.
