The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office recently pulled a seriously deficient car hauler off the road and chronicled the experience in a Facebook post that’s now going viral.
The incident happened on Monday, February 19th, on Interstate 41.
The Sheriff’s office says that they were alerted about the unsafe car hauler from a 911 caller. After a deputy caught up with the truck, he determined that the truck was hauling double it’s normal capacity, with cars literally piled on top of each other.
“The hauler was only allowed to carry four vehicles, but had eight vehicles stacked up on the trailer bed and also towed behind. The two being towed behind the car hauler were on top of each other,” the Facebook post reads.
“Incredibly dangerous. It’s fortunate one of these vehicles did not fall off in transit and kill an innocent motorist,” the Sheriff’s Department added.

Today, at about 6:40 a.m., a 911 caller reported an unsafe car hauler traveling on I-41 southbound near Bluemound Road. A truck enforcement deputy was able to locate and stop the vehicle which was coming from Eagle River on its way to Miller Compressing. The truck had serious violations and had to be escorted off the freeway by multiple squads for safety. The hauler was only allowed to carry four vehicles, but had eight vehicles stacked up on the trailer bed and also towed behind. The two being towed behind the car hauler were on top of each other, with the top vehicle secured only by a tie strap attached to the handles of the bottom car. Sheriff Richard Schmidt said, “In the last quarter of 2017 I ordered the resurrection of the Truck Enforcement Unit. Our highly trained deputies are actively targeting trucks that jeopardize the safety of the motoring public. The public is encouraged to call 911 immediately if they see trucks with obvious violations on the expressway.” The trucking company was owned by the operator who was cited for equipment and safety violations. The truck was taken out of service until the violations are fixed.
