The Marion Country Sheiff’s Office narrowed down their list of suspects in a string of truck stop robberies to one man in Ocala, Florida.
This Thursday, the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit took to the sky to track Jeffrey Dowdy, their prime suspect, and caught him in the act before arresting him.
MCSONews posted the clip on Youtube. According to the video’s description, Dowdy broke into a semi truck parked at 2160 SW Highway 484 and stole a CB Radio, a tool kit, and a guitar. He then went to a nearby Pilot Truck Stop and attempted to sell the CB Radio to other truck drivers in the parking lot.
When they approached Dowdy, he was still holding the CB Radio in his hand. He told officers that he was stealing items from parked semi trucks in order to feed his $300 to $500 a day heroin addiction.
He was arrested and charged with burglary, grand theft of less than $5,000, and dealing in stolen property.
