A tractor trailer lost control while taking an icy curve on Route 4 in Farmington, Maine, and smashed into the side of a home on Tuesday evening.

The accident happened at the intersection of Route 4 and Box Shop Hill Road around 6:45 p.m.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the driver and passenger of the truck were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital. The driver suffered only minor injuries, but truck’s passenger was critically injured.

Two people were inside the home at the time of the crash, but were not injured.

The truck was hauling bottles of water and headed for Miami, Florida.

Police say icy conditions and driver inexperience played a factor in the crash.

The driver also admitted taking the 25 mph curve at approximately 45 mph.
