A bridge railing stopped an overturned semi truck from plunging into a river on Tuesday.
The incident happened in Columbia, North Carolina, around 10:00 a.m.
According to 7-NEWS, the truck was traveling over the Alligator River Bridge during a severe thunderstorm and was blown over by strong winds. The trailer was empty when it happened.
Police photos captured a scary scene, showing the semi trailer hanging partially off the side of the bridge.
The accident closed the bridge for several hours in order for crews to clean up the diesel spill and remove the vehicle.
The truck driver was not injured.
