The Kansas Highway Patrol and Sumner County law enforcement are conducting investigations involving a collision wherein a semi driver crashed into a minivan and a toll booth.

The accident occurred around 3.a.m. Wednesday morning near mile maker 16 at the Southern Terminal of the Kansas Turnpike south of Wellington, in Sumner County, Kansas.

Officers told KSN that as a minivan driver was getting a toll ticket at a toll booth, it was rammed from behind by a semi. Troopers are unclear how fast the semi was driving at the time.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority’s crash log, Christopher McGahey, 32 and George Britt, 50, were taken to the hospital. Only minor injuries were reported.

The semi-truck was hauling a load of goods, including cases of wine which shattered all over the ground. The toll booth was on its side.

Troopers are investigating the incident.
