On Monday, in Kansas City, Missouri, a truck got wedged under the Independence Avenue Bridge near Topping.
Apparently, this was not the first truck to get stuck under this bridge. Reports of similar circumstances have been reported over the years, and it is known to be an ongoing problem.
In a past incident, this semi got stuck under the same bridge…
And so did this one.
After a previous incident, Jackson County Tow Service Driver Bob Cradit said he isn’t surprised anymore when trucks try to make under the bridge, even though it is clearly marked with a clearance of 12 feet.
“They need some bigger signs. I’m not saying it’s not marked. It is marked. But somehow it always gets avoided and everybody thinks they can make it under it,” he said.
The problem of trucks crashing under this bridge persists.
In most cases, emergency crews deflate the vehicle’s tires in order to move it from the area. But because the truck from Monday’s incident was tilted on an angle when it became wedged, the top of the truck was completely torn off.
According to KMBC News, the bridge was closed off to westbound traffic while crews cleared the scene of the stuck truck, but has since reopened.
No injuries were reported
