Last Monday, a man was killed after a piece of the braking mechanism for a tractor trailer flew off the truck and struck him in the head.
Now, the family is asking for the public’s help in finding the semi truck and driver involved.
It happened in Jefferson County, Wisconsin on Monday, May 22nd on Interstate 94, east of Johnson Creek at approximately 5 p.m.
According to Fox 6, the man, 51 year old Jay Tichelaar, was traveling east on I-94 when a piece of the braking system of a semi collided with his windshield, breaking through the glass, and struck him in the head, killing him.
The tractor trailer did not stop.
“The family of Mr. Tichelaar is asking the community for help in identifying the semi-tractor trailer involved in this case,” said Frank Pasternak, the Tichelaar family attorney, in a statement.
“All of us need to be protected from trucking companies that fail to care for their vehicles,” continued Pasternak.
“We want to know which brake this came off of, what truck this came off of, who’s responsible for maintaining this truck,” Pasternak concluded.
Wisconsin State Police are still investigating the incident.
Anybody with information relating to this accident, or the identity of the truck and driver, is asked to contact either the Wisconsin State Patrol at (608) 846-8500.
