Drivers will have to find an alternate route for the forseeable future after a California road buckled and split in half earlier this week.
A 2-mile stretch of the Vazquez Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, California was closed after a landslide caused significant damage.
The landslide caused rocks and debris from the adjacent hills to slip underneath the pavement, elevating the roadway by 15 feet and causing severe damage. The road eventually buckled and cracked.
Geologists are trying to figure out why the landslide occurred.
Needless to say, the road will be closed for a significant period of time. California DOT has not released an expected completion date for the repairs.
