The privately owned trucking company, Schneider National Inc., announced on Friday its plans to go public by 2017. Based out of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Schneider is one of the largest trucking companies in the nation, valued at $4 billion.

Its services include regional, long-haul, expedited, dedicated, final mile, bulk, intermodal, brokerage, cross-dock logistics, supply-chain management and port logistics.

The trucking company operates across the globe and utilizes over 100,000 trucks, 33,000 trailers, and 17,700 intermodal containers. The company possesses 6.5 million feet of warehouse spaces. Schneider also has 11,560 truck drivers and 2,900 independent truck drivers.

According to Green Bay Press Gazette, Schneider plans to make an initial public offering of common stock next year if the market is favorable.  The trucking company plans to allow its family members to continue to retain majority ownership while allowing professional management to step in.

Schneider explained that,

“This transaction will allow the company to continue its commitment to Wisconsin and the community, and to maintain and further investments in its long-term positioning

A registration statement is to be filed with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission to determine the value of the stock close to the time of sale.
