A Fourth of July trip turned tragic in Davenport, Iowa, yesterday, when an RV struck and killed a woman at the Flying J truck stop on I-80 and Northwest Blvd.
According to police reports, the RV entered the truck stop to refuel, but ended up running over the woman who was was helping him park the vehicle.
The RV driver then hit a gas pump, before crashing into a car with four children inside.
Miraculously, the four kids were rescued from the vehicle without serious injuries.
The mother of the children was outside the vehicle at the time of the crash. She told told reporters, “Basically I guess [she was] trying to direct him to park the RV. He evidently hit the wrong pedal. Ran her over. Killed her.”
The driver of the RV was taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. No charges have been filed.
