A man is in custody for opening fire on a truck driver during a state of road rage. It happened on Sunday around midnight at I-40 and Covington Pike in Memphis, Tennessee.
Action 5 News reported that car driver, Ronald Bedford, became enraged after truck driver, Philip Daniel, cut him off. Daniel explained that after he had noticed a disabled truck on the side of the freeway, he had to cut in front of Bedford to switch lanes.
That’s when Bedford sped up and cut off Daniel several times for about three miles before shooting at his tires. Daniel said that the incident was so scary that he went into “survivor mode.”
He explained, “After the first cap busted, I laid over in the seat, because he started drifting back toward the driver door and I figured the next would be coming in there.”
The trucker dialed 911 after Bedford opened fire. When police arrived, they found Bedford next to his car and uncovered two shell casings on the seat and a loaded 9mm gun in the glove box.
Bedford was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.
His bond was set at $75,000. No one was injured during the incident.
