A portion of Interstate 20 in Texas was shut down after a disastrous series of events involving two semi trucks, a TxDOT vehicle, a police cruiser, and a highway sign.
The incident occurred near the exit283A exit ramp on Interstate 20 in Abilene, Texas on Thursday.
According to KTXS, the chain of events began when a semi truck jackknifed near the highway’s exit ramp, blocking off the road.
Shortly after rescues crews arrived, another semi truck that was traveling on the westbound I-20 plowed into a police car and a TxDOT vehicle that came to assist the first truck.
The second truck then struck an overhead highway sign and caught fire.
The driver of the TxDOT truck and the driver of the second semi truck suffered minor injuries, but did not go to the hospital. The other drivers were not injured.
The highway was reopened after several hours. An investigation is underway.
