The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a recall of certain tires manufactured by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
The recall will affect around 1,650 of its G399A LHS tires, size 295/75R22.5 LRG that were manufactured between January 24th and May 28th.
According to the NHTSA, an error occurred during the curing press set-up which may have caused the incomplete adhesion between the tread and the top belt.
Goodyear reported that a partial tread separation could lead to vehicle damage or a crash. Be aware of unusual noises or vibrations as signs of a partial tread separation.
The affected tires were supplied to Freightliner, Volvo Trucks N.A., Paccar, and Navistar. They were sold as original tires to some vehicles and also as replacement tires.
To remedy the situation, Goodyear plans to notify individuals, dealers, and car manufacturers who purchased the tires. They will be replaced with similar tires at no charge.
The recall will begin on October 15th. Individuals who own these tires can call Goodyear at 1-800-592-3267 and can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
