Earlier this year congress implemented hours of service waivers in 37 U.S. states due a propane shortage caused by severe winter storms.

Many states have reported fuel levels rising to normal levels and in response the Secretary of Transportation has canceled the exemptions in these states

In the notice published on April 10th 2014, the FMCSA declared the exemptions cancelled in 31 out of 37 states, effective immediately.

The following states still have active HOS exemptions: Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia.

These 6 states still have fuel supplies below normal levels and will be monitored closely by state governments. The exemptions are set to expire on May 31st or when fuel levels normalize.
