On Wednesday, April 20th, in Holland Township, MI, a 20 year-old woman rear-ended a semi-truck.
According to MLive, police reported that Kaitlyn Balder “admitted she was texting on the cell phone and, because of the action, didn’t realize she was overtaking the truck.”
Police stated that Balder was driving a Chevy Equinox north on U.S. 31 near Riley Street when the accident occurred. The other crash victim, 74-year-old Jack Helder, was driving a 1994 Freightliner tractor-trailer, and was moving at a slow speed after advancing from a red light.
The resulting collision left the woman stranded in her vehicle. A rescue team extracted her from her car and was taken to the hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening.
