A Utah-man was killed after crossing into oncoming traffic and swerving in front of a tractor trailer on Saturday morning.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, it happened on State Route 18 in Washington County, just outside the town of Veyo.
Police say 53-year-old Darrin Ivie, who was driving a Ford Ranger pickup truck, swerved in front of the tractor trailer around 10:50 a.m. Ivie, a Bishop at the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died at the scene.
The semi truck driver was not injured in the crash.
The trucker told police that Ivie was “laying across the seat to the right” before impact. Investigators say Ivie may have been reaching for something in his vehicle and inadvertently swerved into oncoming traffic. The possibility of a medical emergency is also being investigated.
