The identity of the truck driver who was killed by another driver on Saturday has been revealed.
The truck driver was killed in Jacksonville, Florida, in what police called a murderous road rage. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on the I-10 eastbound lanes, near Chaffee Road.
According to police, the two semi trucks bumped when the victim tried to change lanes to avoid construction. Witnesses say the suspect then fired a shot at the victim’s cab.
The victim was struck by the gunfire and crashed into the woods off Interstate 10. The shooter fled the scene.
Officers now identified the victim as 44-year-old George Guerrero of Perth Amboy, New Jersey. According to his Facebook page, Guerrero worked for Auscor Transportation, out of Somerset, New Jersey.
The suspect has still not been identified and is on the loose. Officers are searching for a black male with a beard who drives a semi truck with an orange cab with probable damage to the front passenger side of the truck.
According to a quote from Action News Jax‘s video, “We don’t normally see it with semi truck drivers,” said JSO Jay Farhat. “Normally, there is some type of professional courtesy that occurs.”
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or email [email protected].
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help pay for Guerrero’s funeral costs.
