The body of a deceased truck driver was discovered by a coworker at the K&T Truck Stop in Fairmont, West Virginia on Thursday, and it has been described as a “suspicious death” by local police.
According to WDTV in West Virginina, the driver’s company was concerned after not hearing from him for several hours, so they sent another driver to check up on him. Upon discovering the unresponsive driver, police were called to the scene and arrived around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department said the driver initially arrived at the truck stop around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and was there for roughly 20 hours before he was discovered. They also discovered drugs in the driver’s possession, which tested positive for heroin.
Police are calling it a “suspicious death” and have not yet ruled out any particular cause of death. The driver’s identity has not been released.
