A truck driver was killed after crashing into a bridge pillar on Interstate 55 in Jackson, Mississippi. The accident happened on the southbound lanes on Tuesday morning, shortly before 9 a.m.
The driver of the truck was identified as 40-year-old Calvin Gatlin from Houston, Mississippi.
The driver of this morning's fatal 18 wheeler crash is identified as Calvin Gatlin-40, of Houston, MS. Accident still under investigation.

There have been some reports that the driver swerved to avoid a texting motorist, however we’ve not yet been able to confirm these claims.
Southbound lanes near I-55S/Fortification St. were closed after the crash, but have since reopened.
