Some can argue that Poland Springs uses the best water one can find in the states, not just because it tastes good, but because it saves lives as well. Literally.
A fire broke out early Tuesday morning in New Gloucester, Maine, burning away a farm house on Abbey Lane. Before firefighters could get there, a Poland Springs tanker was already on the scene.
The driver was passing by when he saw the fire and stopped.
He immediately began dumping the 8,500 gallons of water he was hauling into a 10×10 foot portable impoundment, something fire companies use to shuttle water from tankers to hose companies. Firefighters were able to use the water given to them by the tanker.
To some, this may sound like rare news, but it is actually common, and even encouraged, for the drivers to stop when they happen upon an emergency like this and offer their water. They also donate thousands of water pallets to fire departments and other emergency medical associates.
