On Monday, an accident involving a pickup and a semi-truck left one woman injured. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in Ellis County, Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 22-year-old Anntanette Nelson from Hays, Kansas, was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger going eastbound on I-70 two miles east of Hays.

Hays Post reported that Nelson entered the median and made a U-turn headed for westbound I-70. However, as she made this maneuver, the young woman pulled out right in front of an oncoming 2015 Peterbilt semi, driven by 34-year-old- Jonathan Godbee from Valley View, Texas.

As a result:

The semi struck the pickup and overturned on the north side of the westbound lane.

The pickup came to a stop between the east and westbound lanes before it caught on fire.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene near the Commerce Parkway exit. As crews worked to clear the debris from the incident, westbound lanes were stopped, and eastbound lanes were diverted around the accident.

The pickup driver, Nelson, was transported to Hays Medical Center.  The semi driver, Godbee, was not injured in the crash.
