One person was killed in a fatal crash involving two semis and two passenger vehicles on Friday night.

It happened on Interstate 295 in Jacksonville, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, it started when a Ford F250 pickup truck, driven by 42-year-old Lori Dampier, rear-ended a tractor trailer on northbound I-295. The impact sent the pickup across the highway median, into the southbound lanes, where it struck a Honda CRV. The Honda CRV then struck a guardrail and another semi truck.

The driver of the Honda CRV was killed in the crash. He was identified as 45-year-old Brett Steeves of Ontario, Canada. Steeves’ wife and two young children were also injured in the crash, the Florida Times-Union reported.

The pickup and semi truck drivers were not seriously injured. An investigation is underway to determine why the pickup driver struck the first semi.
