The incident occurred just before noon on June 26, 2018, on I-485’s inner ramp to northbound I-77 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the driver was “going too fast for the curve,” causing the load to shift. When the truck overturned, the trailer landed on a traffic barrier and split open, sending hundreds of melons in all directions.
According to UPI, the road was re-opened by 6:00 p.m. that evening.
No injuries were reported.
It isn’t clear whether charges will be filed.
