The parent company of Kenworth and Peterbilt, Paccar Inc., has issued multiple recalls involving several truck models.

They informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the following issues.

Issue #1:

The first recall affects an estimated 49 Kenworth trucks that did not undergo proper rear wheel mounting tests during the manufacturing process, which could lead to the rear wheel separating from the truck.

The models affected by this recall are the 2016 Kenworth T660, T680, T800 and W900, manufactured between 2/2/2015 and 4/20/2015.

Issue #2:

The second, much larger, recall involves over 100,000 Kenworth trucks which may experience issues due to water leaking into the windshield wiper’s motor, ultimately disabling the wipers from operating properly and/or leading to an electrical short.

The models affected by this are 2011-2016 Kenworth 963, T270, T370, T440, T470, C500, C540, C550, T680, T800 and W900, manufactured between November 1, 2010 and April 7, 2015.

Issue #3:

The third issue affects roughly 1,500 trucks equipped with Paccar MX-13 engines and Delco-Remy 40SI alternators. The recalled vehicles suffer from a wiring issue that may lead to an engine fire.

The affected models are 2014-2016 Kenworth T660, T680, T880, that were manufactured between February 18, 2013 to April 10, 2015. Also affected are 2011-2016 Peterbilt models 386, 389, 567, 579 and 587, that were manufactured between December 13, 2010 and April 20, 2015

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted individually and can schedule an appointment at a service center in order to fix these issues, free of charge.
