Interstate 20 in Jackson, Mississippi, was closed early this morning after a semi truck hauling 100 head of cattle overturned, releasing his load on the highway.
Local police say the truck driver swerved when he nearly missed his exit, causing the truck to flip on its side around 3 a.m. in the morning.
Some of the cows died in the crash, but many made it out alive and began roaming the interstate.

There were also reports of secondary wrecks, caused by vehicles crashing into the roaming cattle.
A local cattle stockyard was called to help round up the cows. According to WAPT News, some cows even made it to a nearby Jackson neighborhood.

The captured cattle were taken to Massey’s stockyard, where they will be held until being shipped to an insurance company, which will handle the process from there.
The highway has since been reopened, as most of the cattle have been caught. There are still a few unaccounted for, however.
The truck driver was taken the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
