The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has penned a letter urging the Department of Transportation to remove FMCSA administrator, Anne Ferro, stating she has a “clear bias against truckers and the trucking industry”.

Ferro recently published a blog post entitled: “Congress Shouldn’t Roll Back Safety; the Steps We’ve Taken Keep Tired Truckers off the Road”, in which she claimed that the 2013 hours or services (HOS) changes have been effective and she was against suspending them.

However, her pitch was in vain as the Senate Appropriations Committee voted in favor of suspending the new rules until further studies could be done to determine the programs actual effectiveness.

In the letter, the OOIDA, writes:

Ferro’s failure to perform her duties impartially, her failure to lead her agency to fulfill Congressional mandates and her failure to responsibly prioritize the agency’s tasks has left the OOIDA Board of Directors no choice but to unanimously vote in favor of a call for [Ferro’s] resignation,”

They’ve asked Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx to begin search for a new FMCSA administrator immediately.  See the OOIDA’s full letter here.
