On Wednesday morning in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, a man died as a result of a semi truck collision involving a bear.
According to police, at 1:15 a.m. near the Philipsburg State Police barracks, a bear crossed the road in front of a semi truck on a Centre County highway.
The truck driver reportedly hit the bear, lost control of his truck, and then smashed into a tree. The semi truck then flipped over and went up in flames.
Police say the truck driver died on impact. His identity has not been released.
The accident shut down Route 322 between Port Matilda and Philipsburg. 6 WJAC reported that one lane is open between Philipsburg Borough and Strawband Beaver Road.
Drivers are urged to find alternate routes to avoid the scene.
