The Minnesota State Patrol just released a dash cam recording of a semi truck and train collision that occurred late last month.

The incident happened near Mountain Iron, in St. Louis County, on January 20.

According to police reports, the officer just finished performing a roadside inspection on the tractor trailer before the events in the clip took place.

In the clip, the truck pulls off onto a railroad crossing, despite the flashing warning lights, and gets struck by an oncoming train. The truck and train finally come to a stop, several hundred feet after the point of impact.

The recording officer rushes to the semi truck and checks on the driver, who appears to only suffer minor injuries — a gash near his eye.

The driver, 67-year-old James Saatela, told the officer that he was following the car in front of him and did not notice the train.

No one on the train was injured.
