On March 1st, the Nevada Highway Patrol rode a semi truck along busy interstates in order to get a better view of dangerous drivers on the road.
The program called “Badges On Board” featured an officer inside a yellow Penske truck observing the road and keeping an eye out for motorists on their phone, speeding, recklessly driving, and committing other violations.
NHP also tweeted out several videos and photos from the enforcement event, giving an inside look at what it’s like to patrol the roads from a semi truck. Check out some of the highlights below.
“Watch out for this truck, a commercial driver and NHP Sgt are on board as well as cameras and speed radar,” they tweeted.
When a trooper in the rig noticed a violation, he radioed a marked patrol car to finish the job.

They had the perfect view to catch this guy driving while on his cell phone.
This driver didn't know a Trooper was in the Semi Truck next to him, he soon found out though. #📵#drivesafenv #nhpsocomm pic.twitter.com/sW6wcMDuGc

Most importantly, they reminded motorists to “drive carefully around these big trucks and always put your cell phones down.”

The Nevada Highway Patrol called the program a success, and will post more footage during their next “tweet along” in the near future.
