In Beaver County, Utah, severe stormy weather was the cause of multiple collisions involving four semis and other vehicles on Interstate 15.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, a semi-truck traveling south jackknifed across hail and slush covered lanes.
As a result, a second semi-truck hit its brakes and was then struck by a third truck. This caused the third truck to cross over into the northbound side of the freeway, when a fourth semi-truck jackknifed. KSL reported that in this series of wrecks, a sedan was also struck.
The hail covered roads caused hazardous driving conditions.
Four additional collisions happened nearby around the same time due to the hazardous road conditions. Freeway traffic was halted in both directions for around two hours.
One semi-truck driver and two people in the sedan suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
