A motorist is facing possible criminal charges after brake-checking a semi on Interstate 20 and causing an accident that ripped off the truck’s license plate.
It happened at mile marker 380 on Interstate 20, near Santo, Texas. The truck driver, Benji Cullins, captured the entire incident on his dash cam.
Cullins says he called 911 and chased after the driver after the collision took off his license plate.
“After I hit him he took off. I called 911 and proceeded to chase him down. I had to because my license plate was stuck to his bumper,” Cullins told LiveTrucking.com
A trooper, who was notified by dispatch, eventually caught up with the road raging motorist.
“The trooper pulled him over and began to question him. He told the trooper I cut him off, so they pulled up beside me and flipped me off and I got mad and chased them down and hit him. The trooper asked his passenger what happened and he told the same story.”
“Then he asked me what happened. I told him and then I showed him the video. My story was exactly what was on the video.”
No citation was issued at the scene, however troopers say criminal charges are possible after an investigation.
“After he learned of the video he started making up new stories. The DPS officer said he is giving the copy of the video to investigators. He will be possibly facing criminal charges. ” Cullins added.
