A man was killed on Thursday morning after running a red light and crashing underneath a semi truck.

It happened around 6 a.m. in Salt Lake City, Utah. According to police reports, the 29-year-old motorist ran a red light while traveling northbound on Bangerter Highway and ran into the semi truck at the intersection of Bangerter and California Avenue.

The vehicle became lodged under the trailer on impact. The motorist died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the truck was not injured in the accident.

The intersection is expected to be closed for several hours, as the investigation continues.
