A motorist was killed after driving under a semi truck on Friday morning in San Jose, California.

The accident happened around 7:40 a.m., near a construction site at the intersection of Park Avenue and McEvoy Street.

According to NBC- Bay Area, the truck was hauling construction equipment and was turning left onto McEvoy street, when the Pontiac Firebird, headed eastbound on Park Avenue, slammed into the truck’s flatbed trailer and became lodged underneath it.

The 41-year-old driver of the Firebird, Bornking Moseley, was pronounced dead at the scene. Moseley’s 10-year-old daughter was in the back seat and survived the crash. She was extricated from the vehicle and rushed to a nearby hospital.

Witnesses say the Firebird driver may have been blinded by the sun or confused by the construction flaggers that were navigating traffic at the scene.

A full investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured in the crash. Police say he is cooperating with the investigation.
