Richard Brook, of Brooksville, was driving his semi southbound down I-75, Florida on Friday, March 20th, when he noticed a Saturn creeping up from the left lane.
According to the 46-year-old truck driver, the driver of the Saturn was either texting or talking on his phone. He could tell because it was still dark out so he could see the phone screen on his rear view mirror.
The Saturn failed to stay in his lane and began to drift towards Brook. In an attempt to avoid the the approaching vehicle, Brook drove on the interstate’s shoulder, but his truck jack-knifed and rammed into the guard rail around 6:20 a.m..
The crashed blocked the flow of traffic for nearly three hours on the I-75 in Sumter County. Thankfully, Brook was not injured in the crash.
The driver of the Saturn did not stop during the accident. According to ABC News, Florida state troopers are on the look out for the driver, but it is not certain if he’ll face any chargers when found.
