A portion of U.S. Route 212 was closed on Monday, September 5th, due to a snowstorm. MTDOT posted the following traffic advisory.

US-212 DUE TO SNOW/ICE ON WYO SIDE BEARTOOTH PASS IS CLOSED AT STATELINE.

BEARTOOTH PASS CLOSED @ STATELINE starting on September 05, 2016 at 06:45 AM

IF TRAVELING UP THE MT SIDE TRAVELERS WILL NEED TO TURN AROUND AT THE STATELINE AND RETURN TO RED LODGE. IF ATTEMPTING TO TRAVEL ON THE WYOMING SIDE IT IS CLOSED COMPLETELY FROM LONG LAKE UP TO THE STATELINE. ROAD CONDITIONS ON MT SIDE ARE WET WITH SNOW FALLING ON TOP. CONDITIONS ON THE WYO SIDE ARE SNOW/ICE WITH HIGH WINDS EXPECTED TODAY.” – MT DOT

According to another advisory, 4″ to 8″ inches of snow are expected in the area. It’s the second time in the last two weeks that this stretch of highway has been closed due to snow. The previous closure occured on August 24th, 2016.
