One person was killed when a minivan collided with a semi truck on Sunday. It happened around 4:45 p.m. in Canyon County, Idaho.

According to police, 26-year-old Maria Lopez was headed northbound in a minivan when she reached the intersection of Marsing and Riverside.

She missed a stop sign and crashed into the trailer of a westbound semi truck.

NWCN reported that the minivan was carrying five passengers, including one adult and four children. Three of them had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash. All the passengers were taken to hospitals to treat unknown injuries.

All adults were wearing seat-belts at the time of the accident, but it is uncertain if the children were restrained.

It was later reported that Maria Lopez died at the scene. The semi truck driver, 43-year-old Cedric Esqueda, was uninjured.

The roads in the surrounding area were closed for nearly five hours while crews attended to the situation.

The incident remains under investigation.
