A Mexican truck driver crossing into California last week was stopped by border patrol and asked what he was carrying. His response was “mattresses”. The border officers decide to give it a quick glimpse anyways and what they found was a record breaking drug load according to the U-T San Diego.

It may have also been the worst concealed illegal shipment ever. The drugs were tossed in the back of the truck, with zero effort made to conceal them. The 32,000 pounds of marijuana found is worth roughly $20 million dollars and is the largest ever in the Otay Mesa port of entry, and the second largest in U.S. history.

The 46-year-old driver, Martin Martinez-Penaflor, later confessed to knowing what was in his truck and said he was offered $50,000 to bring it into the country.

Martinez was arrested and his truck seized be U.S. border patrol.
