Michigan-based Martin Transportation Systems (MTS) recently announced the purchase and installation of 1,000 Lytx DriveCam systems.

Martin Transportation says the dual facing cameras serve as an “impartial witness” that will protect drivers against false claims.

According to a March 21st press release, Martin Transportation Director of Safety Jeffrey Wood says the decision to install the DriveCam systems paid immediate dividends.

“Immediately after we deployed the DriveCam system to our fleet, we experienced the value of DriveCam video as an ‘impartial witness,’ and we have used the DriveCam footage to exonerate our drivers. We just shared the video with the police – and no other witness was necessary. That saved us potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in claims, with the added benefit of getting us money back for our equipment damage.” he said.

Earlier this year, the owners of Lytx sold the company to a private equity group for $500 million in cash.
