A man stole a tanker truck from a company in the 6800 block of Rosecrans Avenue in Paramount, California, and lead officers on a peculiar chase.
According to mynewsla.com, the tanker belonged to the Orange-based petroleum distributor SC Fuels and was stolen by 24-year-old Jose Corrales on Sunday, March 30th.
The owner of the tanker was able to keep track of his truck by monitoring the location with the GPS. He called the California Highway Patrol and informed them of the location of the stolen vehicle.
An hour later, the tanker was located at Woodruff Avenue in Bellflower and the sheriff’s department gave pursuit. The chase was slow-paced and only lasted for 5 minutes.
Deputies noted that Corrales stopped at every red light and followed all traffic rules, but would not yield to the officers.
He eventually parked on the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Rosecrans where he turned himself in.
Corrales was taken in without incident and has been charged for grand theft auto and suspicion of felony evading.
