A man who was sleeping under a semi trailer at the loading dock of an Oregon chain store was killed when a truck driver attempted to leave the dock.

The incident occurred at the Bi-Mart on 18th Avenue and Chambers Street in Eugene, Oregon.

According to reports, the truck driver arrived at the dock around 3 a.m. and dropped off a trailer he was hauling, before connecting to an empty trailer at the dock. The victim, who was sleeping underneath the empty trailer, was crushed as the driver drove off.

The driver stopped and called police after realizing there was a man underneath the trailer. He was rushed to the hospital, but died from his injuries around 6 a.m.

Local police say the victim was in his 60s and is believed to be homeless.

The truck driver was not injured in the incident. Police have not yet released the names of the men involved, as the incident is still under investigation.
