A man opened fire at an Ohio rest stop, critically injuring one victim, before killing himself during a police chase.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. at the northbound rest area on Interstate 71 in Delaware County, Ohio.

According to The Ohio State Highway Patrol, the shooter fired at several vehicles, injuring one person, before fleeing the scene. Police pursued the shooter north into Richland County, where he drove over road spikes and crashed into a guardrail. When officers surrounded his vehicle they found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The victim, who was struck six times at the rest stop, is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.

The names of the suspect and victim have not been released.

The incident closed a portion of Interstate 71 on Sunday afternoon, but the roadway has since reopened.
