Interstate 80 in Wyoming has been closed for the second time in less than 5 days.
A pileup which started when two semi trucks crashed due to low visibility, led into a chain reaction involving between 30-40 vehicles near mile marker 290.
According to the Wyoming DOT: “I80 between Laramie and Rawlins is expected to be closed for an extended period of time due to crash involving Hazardous Materials.”
Several injuries and one death have been announced thus far. The clean up and rescue process is being stalled due to a large fire from a tanker that was hauling Butyl Cellosolve, a hazardous material.
This highway was reopened just 2 days ago after being shut down for several days under similar circumstances. There is no word yet on when the highway will reopen again.
