In Greenwich Township, Pennsylvania, a semi truck caused a major accident.
The incident occurred on Monday around 4:30 p.m. on I-78.
WFMZ reported that a semi truck cut off a truck hauling cars. That’s when the car-hauler jackknifed and flipped over.
There was heavy damage to the truck, cars, and concrete median that it hit.
Wreckage was spread across the highway at mile marker 38.
Crews worked to clear the concrete debris.
One witness, Ronald Adams, was sitting in his living room when he heard the commotion.
He told reporters that he thought he heard thunder.
Adams stated:
“All of the sudden we hear banging and clanging going on. I said to my wife right away that something happened down here on the highway. So I quickly came down here and what I saw was the trailer there down in the creek here.”
The witness explained that he tried to assist at the scene of the accident, but a creek separated him from the interstate, making it impossible.
He explained:
“I didn’t have no gear to put on to try and help. but it wasn’t too long after I saw the ambulance was here.”
Eric George, a resident of Hamburg told reporters that this isn’t an uncommon incident in this area.
He stated:
“I’ve seen them before. It’s just a bad stretch.”
I-78 was closed in both directions for hours. The highway was shut down from the Lenhartsville exit to the Kutztown exit.
Traffic has since been reopened. No one was reported to be injured.
