At least eight semi trucks were damaged after they were pelted by rocks on an Indiana highway early Thursday morning.

The incidents took place on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 465 in Indianpolis, Indiana, just before 2 a.m.

When Indiana State Troopers arrived, there was a line of damaged vehicles pulled over on the shoulder. All eight trucks that stopped had their windshields shattered by large rocks.

One driver explained that it “sounded like a bomb went off,” as the object penetrated his windshield.

“I was coming down the road and then ‘bang!’ Glass just went everywhere, it was just like you had a real accident with another vehicle,” another driver told WTHR-13 reporters.

“You’ve got glass flying in your face. It’s easy to jerk the wheel and turn the truck over on its side. All because someone wants to play games,” said a third driver.

Indiana State Police praised the drivers for maintaining control of their rigs after being struck.

“Every windshield is busted up pretty good,” said an Indiana State Trooper.

“If any of these semi truck drivers decided to flinch or move, these vehicles could have hit another car or could have run off in the ditch themselves,” the Trooper added.

ISP said they believe at least two people were involved, however no suspects have been identified. An investigation is currently underway.
