A truck driver was arrested after taking Kentucky police on a 69-mile long chase on Monday afternoon.

According to police reports, the driver took off after Officer Jeremy Duvall attempted to stop the tractor trailer for a safety inspection on the northbound lanes of Interstate 65 around 1:15 p.m.

The chase continued on for more than an hour, until the truck was disabled by spike strips near Sonora, Kentucky.

A motorist captured this footage of the chase.

The driver was identified as 42-year-old Hussein Abdikadir Ali of Tucson, Arizona. He was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing and evading police, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment (police officers), speeding 13 mph over the limit, and resisting arrest.

Police say Ali had a valid commercial driver’s license, was legally driving the vehicle, and wasn’t carrying any illegal cargo.

The Bowling Green Daily News reported that police officers still don’t know why Ali refused to stop.

“We honestly have no idea, and he never would tell us,” said Sgt. Jason Morris. “The truck was clean. There was no contraband.”

Ali is currently being held at Warren County Regional Jail.
