On October 16th, the former Chief Financial Officer of Arrow Trucking, Jonathan Leland Moore, was sentenced to 3 years in prison for his role in defrauding the IRS and a Utah bank for over $20 million dollars.
According to TulsaWorld.com, Moore initially faced up to 60 months in prison, but received a reduced sentence for playing a key role in convicting the company’s former CEO, Doug Pielsticker.
The large scale fraud led to Arrow Trucking’s abrupt closure, which left 900 truck drivers stranded around the country just two days before Christmas, with no paychecks or gas money to get home.
Coincidentally, Moore was ordered to begin his prison term on December 9th, however U.S. District Chief Judge Gregory Frizzell agreed to push the date back to January 6th, in order to allow Moore to handle “unfinished business” and spend the holiday season with his family.
Moore was also ordered to pay $21 million in restitution to the IRS and Utah’s Transportation Alliance Bank.
